Twitter Idiots

My Twitter handle is @scotty. for some reason people think if you put a @ in front of a name, like @Scotty McCreery, its going to go to @ScottyMcCreery. That’s because those people are idiots. Those all go to me. Also, maybe people should look up with the real twitter handle is. Perhaps people should be smarter than a bowl of soup. I think I might be asking a lot though.

Six Years

I’ve been at Rackspace for six years. I don’t think I’ve stayed anywhere for that long. I spent the first five working in IT, at first as a developer, then the last year as a development manager. Then a little over a year ago I got the opportunity to move to CloudFiles as the engineering manager. I love where I’m at and my team is hella smart and easy to get along with.

The Voyage Home

We’re heading out after the LAX meetup. Next stop is Denver. Damn this RV is buuuuumpy. I had a good time visiting my buddy Art. It was his birthday this weekend and we went out and threw it down hard. Really nice meeting his kids for the first time. Sho has a great arm for a three year old. I’m looking forward to seeing him in the majors. Rai is independent and quiet.

Openstack Summit

Still a bit tired from the trip. Started monday with some documentation talks by Anne Gentle. The doc guys are using wadl to create api docs, but Swift doesn’t have one. I’m starting to think that there has to be an easier way to do discovery and documentation of APIs. We ventured out a bit and got some coffee from Blue Bottle coffee. I had some brazillian beans and they used the coffee siphon.

RoadStack RV Trip

Well we made it. 29 hours of driving through El Paso, Phoenix, LA and to San Francisco. I’m exhausted but it was a great trip. We had a pretty good vision of what we wanted to do. I don’t think we did as much work as we initially envisioned. The Clear modem didn’t work for most of the trip and our cell coverage was pretty spotty. I drove through a pretty gnarly sandstorm outside El Paso, the steering wheel was at a 45° angle or more due to the wind.
